I recently made two journeys on the M1, one northbound and four days later (yesterday, 20th March 2023) a return journey southbound. In both directions I got reports of a a 60mph average speed zone roughly 18 miles long between Newport Pagnell services and J19 for the M6. There were no average speed zones posted on that stretch of road at all. How do I report this to TomTom? I've tried using the Mapshare Reporter but I can't seem to find those zones.

Only with Mapshare can you report speed camera errors.
OK. So how do you report average speed zone problems? I can find fixed cameras, but even when I know exactly where a genuine average speed zone is, I can't locate it on Mapshare.

You can specify in the comments that this is an average speed zone.
How do I report an item that doesn’t appear on the MapShare map?

Comment signaler un élément qui n'apparaît pas sur la carte MapShare ?

Just flag it as a Speed Camera issue, specify the speed at the top, and explain the fact that it's an average speed zone in the Comments section.

How do I identify the stretch of road? With a fixed camera, there's an icon at the location to click on and make a report. I want to report something that covers 18 miles of road and is not on the map.

Select a midpoint in the geometry and define the start/endpoints on the comments.

I followed the advice, and my report was accepted. I made the same journey a week or so ago, and surprise surprise, the two "imaginary" 18 mile long average speed zones are still on the database. How long should it take to get something like this fixed?

Nothing will change on the device until the map is updated. For a mapshare report to be added to the actual map can take two quarterly updates. No, before you ask, nobody knows why it takes TT so long.
The data on the website MyDrive used for route planning will be updated more or less immediately.

Does that mean that the average speed zones are integrated into the actual map, and that the weekly speed camera updates, which we pay for, don't really do anything that might be considered useful? Out of interest, what do they do?

Speed cameras are reported in real time provided you have a valid subscription and are connected to your phone.

For Tomtom to take a speed camera into account, it must be reported by several users.
