TomTom Model(s)
Go Exclusive
My PC and (my new!) GoExclusive are connected but the POI is not showing in My Places after importing it from my PC. What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong.
On Go Exclusive it is not possible to add personal points.

Thanks for quickly answering with such a disappointing answer!

I think something is not quite right with TomTom’s design ethos - eg MyDrive (latest version installed yesterday) offers to import POI’s but Exclusive, and perhaps other TT devices?, can’t / won’t allow it, what a great shame - and I’m beginning to regret purchasing it.

I completely agree. I’m a truck driver and just updated from the 6250 to the expert. Being the most expensive device on their site I assumed that it would have at least the same capabilities as earlier models. Unfortunately, it turns out that this is not the case, and I too, am unable to add p.o.I’s to my device.
There are 200+ drivers working at the same site as me and we use the facility to update delivery points (we have over 1000). If this option is no longer going to be included it has already been agreed that we are going to switch to an alternate company.
I have recently written to tomtom explaining this but am waiting for a useful response. I will update if I hear anything.

Hello pbsker,
Thanks for your message - it’s good to learn that I’m not the only disappointed one - but what a farce.
They have had reasonably good products over time but to go and omit essential things like this is plainly ridiculous. I was similarly frustrated some years ago when they removed the compass icon in one of their devices.
I will also write to them explaining my extreme disappointment and hope to receive some come in due course.
As you’re already ‘in the queue’ hopefully you’ll hear from them sooner than me.
We must endeavour keep the forum updated as to progress - or not!

We begged from the beginning of the new product generation that custom POI be added, but for reasons we are unable to understand, TT has completely lost interest in this feature. It was a late feature addition for the previous generation as well, and wasn't as complete as it had been in the past (only 5 categories, and no custom icons). Custom POI support hasn't been very good since the old Nav2 days.

Remember, for a very brief time in 2015 some of us were able to add Custom POIs, including personal icons, to the cell phone application. That was killed before all could try it.

Using the new 'toy', I set a route using My Places and guess what? Tomtom would not save the route! I attempted another and ... zilch.
Then, it advised that the Tomtom and my PC were not connected! Physically they were as per the attached file.
So, a strong message was sent to Tomtom and I included a request for a returns label yesterday. We'll see what happens next. If I don't receive a response in the next few working days, good old PayPal to the rescue.
Can anyone recommend a good satnav for cars and campers AND will permit the installation of POI's?

Hi, Am I reading correctly that you CANNOT add POI files to the TomTom Expert?

Seen your photo it is the software which is no longer installed on your GO https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013959579-Mon-GPS-ne-démarre-pas-ou-une-croix-s-affiche

Normally you do not need to connect your GO exclusive to the computer.
I'm most surprised to read this! If not on the move, how does one charge the beast or transfer from/to My Tomtom Connect?
I have followed all the various recommendations, reset the unit etc and still zilch. So, with some regret, I have requested a returns label and refund. Should I consider for example a Go Camper Max. Will it save routes, enable ones POI's to be added etc.
Needless to say, I am both frustrated and disappointed with the Go Exclusive

GO Camper max works like GO Exclusive you can plan a route but you still can't add personal poi.

I hear what you say re POIs but, as sakes earlier, will it save routes?

Yes, you can plan and save your route with My Drive.
The beast is on its way to - Romania!
I must say that once I had informed TomTom that I wished to return it and receive a refund, things moved quite quickly. They messaged to say that that UPS would contact me with the relevant info.
So, all packed up and guess what? their email included a return label and three invoices - good old Brexit! What they didn’t say was where should they, the invoices be placed. After Googling I put them beneath the returns label securely fixed to the parcel. The clerk at the drop off shop, having scanned the label was unknown to me on line with UPS and asked about the invoices and I told him where they were. Hopefully that was okay as after tracking today, saw they were in Germany so, hopefully all will be well.
If only TomTom or UPS had mentioned where to put ‘em …..
Watch this space!

Normally an invoice must be stuck on the package and be visible to the carrier and customs to avoid paying customs fees.

I know that now but neither Tomtom nor UPS gave any indication as to where to place them.
However, despite placing the three invoices behind the address label, the package has been received in Romania and within three days, I received a full refund. Success and some faith restored in Tomtom.
Having dappled with Aguri and some others, not impressed, what is the perceived Tomtom Camper to seriously consider?

Having enjoyed 4 different TomToms over the years after the latest huge disappointment I decided to go elsewhere and after asking one or two salient question, like ‘can I add my own POI’s?’ to various companies, am now having to learn how to use my shiny new SatNav. Quite an interesting time!
