HOME just offered a critical update to the latest version: 2.7.6.2056

Anyone notice anything different? Perhaps they're preparing for the August maps that are due any time now.

Members of a UK forum started getting it yesterday. No noticeable changes so far.........

Cosmetic Changes

I took a chance on the update and haven't noticed any differences other than there being the "normal" complement of updates (i.e., MapShare, GPSFix, etc.) that didn't show up without first installing 2.7.6.2056.

Perhaps future TomTom updates will require this new version of Home?

Only difference I noticed was before installing.

In the past I was offered an update which I ignored for 2 - 3 days until there were no adversary reports.
I would then download it from their web page and install it off line.
This time it would not let me proceed. When ever I did not give permission to install, right there and then, it would just shut down HOME.

I know, quite a few feel that way, but without it I wouldn't be able to test some of the problems reported by others.

Yeah, it "blew up" on me. After the update, I would get the small, rectangular initialization window, then it would disappear and nothing. Each attempt left another instance running that you could see with Task Manager.

Gave up, did the total uninstall, and did the reload of 6.2056 directly from TomTom's site. OK now.

I've seen this before. Tomtom does this if the upgrade is considered "critical". Last month's update wasn't critical so this didn't happen. I think 2 updates ago was "critical" and the same issue occurred.

Mine displayed as a critical update.
As did mine - which is why, after their patch blew it up, I grabbed a fresh copy from TomTom instead of reverting to the prior version (which seemed to work well enough, but ...)

for some reason TomTom Home does not show GPS QuickFix anymore, only Map share corrections and safety cameras (which never seems to work)

I have a XL-S IQ Routes Edition

I haven't updated it in a month or two and now I go to do it, it's not there anymore?

It's been taking a long time, 3-5 mins to find GPS signals...And I cant update it? wtf

Use Explorer tolook at the contents of your unit. Delete everything in the ephem folder.

Also, go here:

c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\Ephemeris\

and delete any sub folders you see in there.

Connect to Home and you should be offered a new gps file.

Perhaps their attempt to fix system software to overcome complaints from those of us with Live subscriptions which displayed varying expiry dates (66% accurate) ?

Me I'll live with a minor issue I understand until the next "emergency" fix is proven not to screw up anything.
