I have had a GO 920 for about 7 months. My Firmware is 8.3. I have the stuttering problem that so many have complained about here, but I have not applied the "fix". My untit only stutters about 20% of the time.

My bigger problem is that my 920's map will "spin" as I am driving. It keeps on track on the route, but the spinning makes looking at the unit impossible. It will do this whether I have a trip planned or just have the unit on with no route planned. The spinning occurs more often than the stuttering.

Any ideas?

I'm really still not clear what you refer to as 'spinning' but try a pin reset. Often cures various issues.

If it doesn't and this spinning just recently started, maybe you need a call to support: 866-486-6866.

My map (2d view - driving direction up) spins when the satellites aren't strong enough. When tomtom has few satellites, it's assumed location shakes forward, backward, and side to side. Tomtom thinks you're driving those directions and keeps spinning the map so that the direction you are driving is ahead.

This can be confirmed by going to 2d view, north up, and seeing if your location is bouncing around.

Other than:
1) pin resets, that sometimes fixes receptions issues
2) downloading quickgpsfix if not already done

There's really not much else you can do to prevent the shaking. Check the satellite status screen (tapping on the bars on the lower right, then the bars on the upper right). If you have 7+ satellites, it rarely jitters.
