Go 6000
Hello - first post from me.

Having trouble updating my Go 6000 on My drive Connect.

Unit connects ok to my computer, I can download the required map updates but the Go 6000 will not update. Computer says 'Updating Device' but it's not - no indication of % update for example. After waiting an hour or so and checking the unit, the map has not been replaced.

I have set the power on the computer to not turn off, I'm using the original Tomtom cable. I've tried the chat bot ( hopeless) and googling but I'm getting nowhere. I'd be very grateful for any pointers. Thank you.

Further info - Have tried using two different windows computers including a brand new one. Have tried using different usb cables.

Hi

Question is your GPS recognized by Mydrive connect green check mark?
2 Question do you have enough room to install the new card?
3 Question do you have an SD card where the map installs on the internal memory of the GPS?

GO 6000 does not have wi-fi and can only be updated with Mydrive connect.
+1. WiFi updates didn't become possible until the 520/620/5200/6200.

Again, though, using the word "card" (vs. French 'carte') as a word to mean 'map' confuses people a lot in English forums, especially when actual uSD cards are also being discussed. It's best to use the word "map".

Thank you Willy875.

A1 The only check mark I can see is on the 'Updating Device' screen - this is grey not green.

A2 The Go 6000 memory is almost full (4mb free) with the existing map.

A3 I do have an almost empty 16gb SD card fitted and this is recognised by MyDrive Connect. There is 15130mb free.

When formatting your GPS should have asked you if you want to install maps or routes have you selected map.

Apparently the new card does not want to install on your SD.

Try installing a smaller map on the GPS's internal memory once done you try installing the new map again.

Please, again, for English, CARD <> MAP. It is likely very confusing for English speakers, especially when an SD "card" is also part of the discussion. In no language that I know is the word 'card' used to indicate a map.

Willy makes an important point. When your uSD card was inserted into the GO 6000 for the first time, it should have asked you how you wanted to use the card. If it did not ask, you will want to format it again on your PC as FAT32 and try again. If it did ask, it is critical that you specify that your intent is to use it for maps (not for routes and tracks). The 6000 adds its own format, which is different depending upon card purpose, and it must be done correctly.

Problem now sorted. Many thanks to all who contributed.

Very long story shortened. Willy875 was on the mark. I contacted TomTom support who were very helpful. They made some changes remotely to my Go 6000 ( don't know what nor how). I then had to delete the HOME3 folder from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\TomTom\HOME3

(To see the AppData folder, turn on 'View hidden files' in Windows file explorer.)

Restart the computer and the device. I then found that my maps had been deleted from the device. I then redownloaded my maps via MyDrive Connect selecting 'save to SD card'.

Bingo, it all works.

Thanks again.
