Go 5000
Go 5000 will not complete startup. Fully charged for 24 hours. Here's what I do.
Press and hold on/off button until drum sounds, then release the on/off button.
While logo is stil visible, press and hold on/off button to try to enter white text screen. This does not happen.
Instead a black screen for about a second or so, then the logo again and it stays there. That's it.

I have to press and hold for about 12 seconds to turn the device off.

Device is about 10 years old but very seldom used.

Any clues, hints, tips would be much appreciated.

Try holding the button immediately AFTER the drums sound until the black and white screen appears. It can take a bit for the screen to come up.

What does MyDrive Connect on your PC say when you plug in your device to USB?

Thanks, but it makes no difference. (I followed the video too, before coming here.)
MyDrive Connect says "not connected:

Here's the sequence.

device off.
press & hold button, logo comes up, release button, drum sounds, press and hold button, logo for 3 more seconds, black screen for 1.5 seconds, logo again, and it stays there.
It doesn't get to the white text.

I'm wondering if there's any way of connecting to it serially (via terminal or something like that) to see what's going on.

Also I'm wondering if a replacement battery could fix this. Some laptops won't boot on just the power supply with the battery mounted but empty.

Any thoughts?

If your GPS does not connect to Mydrive connect have you tried with another cable?

Furthermore, if your GPS has been left for a long time without being recharged frequently, the battery is dead, it is best to change it.

Navigation device not connecting to computer (MyDrive Connect)

Thanks, yes I have tried with a different cable. This device belongs to relatives, I have the same model (in which I have replaced the battery.)
I guess I'll order a replacement battery.

Thanks again.
