Droopy mount?

I have this mount with a ONE 3rd edition.

The problem? I've been noticing that when I drive, especially on bumpy roads or areas with speed bumps, the TomTom itself lowers its viewing angle slightly. After several minutes, I go from having a straight-on view of the screen to the screen being aimed at my chest.

- Is there a way to stiffen the ball-and-socket joint?

- Is there a superior mounting solution? I'm hoping for something less permanent than ProClip.

- Finally, is there anywhere I can order the mount alone without a power adapter? If the mount truly has this problem, I'll just buy two or three. ;-)

My wife and I share the entire unit, mount and all, between two vehicles. We remove the device when parking, mount and all, to make the car look less enticing--our city has a pretty serious crime problem.

Thanks!

I think I just answered my own question. I just found a hairline crack on the socket of the TomTom mount. So there's my drooping problem.

I still need to know: can I buy the mount alone?

Yes, the Akron is an excellent mount. I've had mine now for about 6 mos. It's never failed, has detents so when the knob is tightened, locks in positively. Also has a swivel head so you can tilt it to driver if you want.

It's still on sale at Semsons.com for $10. Here's a picture and link:
