Mini usb connection in my new VW car,
can I buy a cable from the mini USB straight to my sat nav or do need a adapter.

I presume you want to connect it to provide the power to run it.

Using a USB socket to power a Go Basic (Serial X5.........)

Having recently bought a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulietta I find it has a USB socket (unlike my previous 2011 Giulietta). Could this be used to power a Go Basic since it location means less trailing cable than using the "cigarette lighter" socket beside the handbrake with the adapter?

The answer is it depends on the power output from the USB socket as the PND has a relatively high demand which most USB sockets cannot match. If the socket isn't powerful enough then an adapter won't make any difference

I think I’ll to visit the VW dealer.
All I need to do do is leave the sat nav plugged in on a long journey but all I have is four mini usb ports and no cables.
