Hello all.

I'm looking for the charging information/ speciations for my rider 500 GPS so I can see if its a viable option to make an micro usb adaptor sub-lead for when I don't need the GPS.
My phone requires 5V 1.5-2.1amp charging. I want to know if the tomtom rider cable which is hard wired into my bike is OK to do this, if so I've found the two connectors online and will make my own sub-lead to suit.
Thank you in advanced for any information.

If I am understanding you correctly, BE CAREFUL! Are you talking about connecting directly to this plug?

I believe the voltage is stepped down for the Rider models from +12 to +5 in the mount, not inside the connector housing of the TomTom supplied cable! Be sure to check the voltage at that point you plan to connect your home brew adapter!

Hello, I don't have much experience in tomtom equipment yet, but it seems to me that this cable is to be connected to the 12 volts of the motorcycle, so at the end of the connector it is also 12 volts. As Canderson so aptly said WARNING!

Hello, thank you for your help. I knew this way of doing things, but I thought I would find a similar function integrated into the forum. So no more problem. Thanks again .

It's 12 volts to the support then 5 volts out of the support.
