TomTom Model(s)
Go 6200
Does anyone know which tomtom with an in built sim card was the best model they ever made?
I currently have the tomtom go 6200 but wanted to know if the go premium x is better ?
If yes then in which way is it better? Please tell me all the details

Are they still selling the Premium X in Europe?
It does have a few extra features which might or might not be important to you (e.g., some compatibility with Siri and Google Now) and the ability to use the device to announce arrivals to others. Basic functionality of getting you from A to B is pretty much the same.

My own personal favorite for SIM enabled TomToms are those within the Bridge/Webfleet series that had cellular capability, but one those (e.g., TomTom Pro 8275, if you can find one with cellular) would set you back quite a few pounds sterling.

I grabbed my GO Premium which was the last being offered for sale back in May 2021. Not available in the U.K. now from any of the major retailers. It does however have a better start up time and more responsive than my aging but still working nicely GO 5100.

Hi @b4u2 -
I agree with @Willy875 as the Premium wouldn’t have been worth the upgrade from your GO 6200 as it has very similar functionality, but my GO 5100 only has a 5 inch screen and no Bluetooth or WiFi. The GO Premium X (gold colour outer frame) came with an additional travel carry case, screen protector and a dual charger whereas the GO Premium (silver colour outer frame) did not.

Agreed, no WiFi (that would be the 5200), but the 5100 does have Bluetooth. That's what it uses for connections for traffic, safety cams, and the 'TT cloud' through the MyDrive phone app. TomTom uses the really basic SPP (Bluetooth Serial Port Profile) between the device and phone app. Originally (late 2013?), this allowed the user to get around any phone 'tethering' issues with cellular providers that either didn't allow it, or charged big money for it.

My Go 5100 connects to traffic, safety cams and the cloud via it’s built in Vodaphone SIM. When using the MyDrive app on my iPhone to send destinations, it used the mobile internet as no Bluetooth link. I don’t have it to hand presently, but it has never been linked to my phone via Bluetooth. I’ll look into it as I cannot recall seeing it in the actual device menu structure either.

I am facing problem with one of my go 6200 now and it's not connecting at all with any of the live services, perhaps you can help me with this now?

You will need to contact Tomtom customer service to see if your SIM card is deactivated.
Another solution is to remove your SIM which is located under the label, clean it gently then reinsert it into the GPS.

Hi @Willy875 -

Thanks for confirming no Bluetooth on the GO 5100 - I have used it for the last 6 years and never saw it on the device settings. But I have come across some “manuals” out there suggesting it did.
Still have 2G here, so good for another few years yet.

It seems like the sim is not active but can they reactivate it?
I am unsure how a lifetime service is deactivated!

It is not Tomtom which deactivates the SIM card but the provider Vodafone.
So contact Tomtom to see if your SIM is deactivated.
Tomtom can reactivate it.
