advice please

new on here so please be patient, i have a refurb go 720 latest map installed is 8.351 but when i try to use lane guidance it says that i need to visit www tomtom for more info. that done it seems to me that i need to pay approx ?70 to get latest maps, just need to know if this is correct?

8.351 is the operating system of your 720.
Tap the satellites at the RH bottom then tap on the screen just above the version number. You will then get a screen with all kinds of information including the version of the map being used.
It is possible that you use a map which does not support lane guidance although that is very doubtful as you are posting from the UK and Advanced Lane Guidance worked well in the UK on my 930 with a 805 map in June 2008. (It still works in demo mode using HOME.)
