TomTom Model(s)
930; GO 620; Start 63
The socket of my May 930, which had next to no use for the first part of this year. shows sings of cracks and and embrittlement at the now visible internal clamp tips.
Without the pressure on the clamp fingers the device nods down every time the is a heavy bump on the road.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Thats shot, see if they will send you out a replacement, if possible ask if they will replace it with the x30 Easy Port mount which is a far better design mount than the original - Mike

Just prior to posting here I raised a Support question, attaching that picture.
"The socket of my May 2008 GO 930 window mount (virtually no use for the first five months of this year) shows cracks towards the 4 corners and the material above the clamping claws is breaking away by embrittlement.
This lack of full clamping pressure makes the head tilt down and becomes unviewable.

This is a clear case of inferior material (typically dirt inclusions from re-ground plastic feed stock) used during the injection moulding process.

Please advise what TomTom intends to do to rectify this matter."

Prior to typing, one of the suggestions was to look at the EasyPort and to rate the video.
I gave it a 0% rating as it displays a back of a device that is not compatible with my 930.

Even though it says it is compatible with GO models, when clicking the link at "For more information, including compatibility, please visit: " it shows to be only for For ONE 140, ONE 140*S, XL 340, XL 340*S
If I limit the accessories page in the drop down to the 930 model, the EasyPort mount is not shown at all..

I hope you are right, Mike, and it is just the symptomatic sloppiness (like forcing me in Canada to purchase a map in EUROs) of the TT marketing or web management.
Thanks,
Arno

Arno, have you specifically called support about the having to pay in Euros for Canadians?

I'm encouraging all Canucks to do so.................maybe, they'll finally do something.

It's not the paying in Euros so much, as you know, it's the being forced to go to a Dutch pay server and get nailed with the 20% VAT.

No, Dave, I have not done so at this time.
I am annoyed to be be told in the MapShare box that for only EUR 69.95 I can buy a map subscription, every time I "Update my GO".
Reason for not calling or raising it as a Support questions is I really want to wait for next year when I may visit all kinds of places in the East from Virginia to Florida. I am chickening out at this point lest they say OK give me your Credit Card number we'll invoice you in USD today.to get the update.

Trust me there is an Easy Port mount available for the x20/ x30 devices, my 930 is sat next to the PC connected to it, this mount is much better than the original one supplied and is worth asking if TomTom will send it as a replacement - if you need a photograph to show them what an x20/ x30 Easy Port looks like just ask - Mike

Just received a reply telling me the because it is over a year old I am SOL (in a tad more polite manner).
Asked them to bring it to the attention of their quality control manager as it is a clear case of inferior materials.
It reminds me of the Zamac (Mazac for you) die casting parts of the '50s which disintegrated bit for bit as you were looking at them.

Thanks for the offer of the picture but the rectangular holder portion is visible on the cited web page just above the video link.

I had also added a slightly more impressive picture.
Got a post earlier today telling me my order # 1234567890 has been charged to TomTom.
An hour lather got an eMail from Support telling me that they would replace the mount under courtesy.
An hour later from TomTomSupport Center
Your Order AO1234567890 has been processed and shipped to you. Your device(s) were shipped via FedEx International and the tracking number is 987654321
Items in shipment:
1.) 4M00.005 - Windscreen holder

Googling showed that number for the X20 series, telling me that it is not the EasyPort.

When I raised the Support question on their web yesterday, I had to opt to where it should go and I decided Technical. The automated acknowledgement and the later rejection post was sent from "TomTom Support Team". The positive replay and shipping information came from TomTom Support Center.
I don't know if it makes a difference as either was signed as
With Best Regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team

If you're interested in the easyport mount, it is here.
That is the page I referred to when I said it is offered for the ONE 140, ONE 140*S, XL 340, XL 340*S only.

Today I received via FedEx the standard suction cup holder only.
The one shown together with cigar lighter adapter for USD 29.95.

Interestingly, their Invoice for the suction cup holder only shows a commodity value of USD 49.98 !
