700 GO Frozen on title screen!! Boo Hoo.

What an introduction to tomtom. I just got my first GPS system and it won't get passed the tomtom screen, or turn off. I have to press reset to turn it off. But turn it on and it never goes past that screen.
I registered on HOME, didn't do any updates or anything just looked around, so I havn't installed any aplications etc. Unless it does that automatically?

So I'm standing outside after that, power it on, and it froze, again and again.
Connected it to the PC to see if I could fix it and connecting to HOME I get "The following problem occured, you can continue but functionality may not be available. The tomtom server did not understand the request. Maybe your HOME version is outdated. Please try to update it."

But it is the new version.

And I get the same error every time

I can't update my GO, can't backup, or operate.
I've had less than half an hour playing with this GO 700, and I'm ready to stomp it to death!!

Pleeeeeease someone help me
 
I'd do as the message says and try later to get updates. Seems as if the TomTom servers are (or were?) acting up when you tried. They do that often, sadly.
 
I figured out what I think happened. I connected to home and it has done an automatic update of my GO, and that screwed it up somehow. Now it won't do updates or anything else.
 
Home was complaining because you had software for a newer device on the older GO 700. Sometimes the newer software can update the bootloader to an incompatible version and permanently damage the Tomtom.

Try these steps:
1) use winrar to extract the contents of this file onto your tomtom
2) run update my GO in HOME until it installs app 7.903
3) look for your map folder and delete the mapsettings.cfg file

then try to start it up.

If your Tomtom still won't start up, you should return it to your place of purchase for refund or exchange, because it may have been damaged by the incompatible software mentioned above.
