XXL540M - lifetime maps

Hi All,

I purchased a 540M for my step daughter about 5 months ago. She was in town this past weekend and I'd planned to update her device to the latest map, but upon plugging it in I realized that she had never updated it before (probably never plugged it into a computer before).

Well, you have to activate the subscription before you can update the device and she threw out all of the paperwork (with the packaging).

I think she's basically SOL. Is that the case or do you think TomTom will provide a map subscription to a device that is supposed to have free lifetime maps?

I'd say that there's a better than even chance that TomTom knows what serial numbers were packaged for the "M" models. I'd call tech support, explain what happened, and see if they can get the lifetime subscription started for you. Worth a try, anyway. If you can dig up a receipt for it that indicates it was an "M", that will certainly help to make the case.
