Window mount suction cup

Rick,
Is the windshield pedestal mount a suction cup? Can it move from car to car? Will it stick better than my original suction cup, which has stopped sticking?

1. Yes it is a suction cup mount - but with a lever to add strength to the suction so it lasts until you take it down yourself (never yet fell off).

2. I move it between my car and my wife's car easily.

3. Sticks much better than the original cup that TT supplies because of the lever.

Still on sale for $10 USD at this site:

or... at Amazon.com (thru Semsons & Co) for $9.99

Rick,
Thanks for your reply. I actually decided to try one of the vent mounts, partly because it will not be so obvious to anyone who is looking to break into cars to steal GPS's. It is also $10 (By the way, the price is the same and the shipping charge is less from Amazon.com even though it ships from Semsons. The price is $20 at the manufacturer's (Arkon) website!) If the vent mount doesn't work out, I'll try this other one. For anyone else interested and following this thread, I'll update this post after I try the vent mount.

A different approach to the problem

I gave my wife a 130 for Christmas and it kept falling off the windshield mounting disc.

I noticed that the lock ring would stay in the locked position when I was holding the 130 in my hand, but that the lock spring was very weak. When offered up to the mounting disc and turned to the lock position, the lock ring would not stay locked. It overrode the spring and rotated back towards the unlocked position about half way.

To firm up the lock springs inside the mount, I wedged a folded piece of paper under each spring. I got access to the springs by gently peeling the flexible suction disc up enough to work inside the mount.

So far, it has stayed on for a few hours now. Perhaps this will help someone with the same problem.

I, too, have mine on the dash. I hear that a hair dryer facilitates easy removal. Hope it's true.

If you're trying to get that last bit of adhesive residue off the dash, use (don't laugh) peanut butter. (Creamy.. not chunky.) The oils in the peanut butter prevent the adhesive from just being stretched, moved around and re-sticking to the dash. And the composition of the peanut butter is a super fine abrasive exactly like a polishing compound.

The only downfall... for the next month you'll get hungry whenever the sun comes out.
