tom tom keep telling me my device need's updating as i am running map version 7.903 but to get the latest map V8.30 will cost ?54.95 is there anywhere else i can get a map from?

First of all, 7.903 refers to the application, not the map.

Second, and most important, the only LEGAL way to get TomTom maps is to purchase them using Home. Any discussion about getting maps from other (illegal) sources is not appropriate for this or any other legitimate gps forum (if you had bothered to read the announcement at the top of each forum).

You will get no help here.
