How will TomTom deal with the speed limit reduction from 30 to 20 mph due in Wales on 17th September?

You should ask Tomtom customer service.
In my opinion, if a drop in the speed limit Tomtom must have planned for something.

I just tried using the so called Support Contact Us page. I got the run around from the chat bot that doesn’t know how to answer a clear question. It only like short straightforward sentences and then it sees a word it recognises and pops a link balloon to the pat standard response. 5 minutes changing the way to ask but never getting a real answer or contact advice.

Did you have any luck. I can’t spot anything on Google about TomTom updates for this Major change.

When you're logged in, and not before, tap Contact Us at the bottom right.

The support box appears and at the bottom with a message option
Type Contact or Chat in the box.

If chat is available, that is, during normal business hours Monday through Friday, you should have the option to tap live chat.

If it's an after-hours chat, you should be given a messaging option, but you should focus on the chat.

No luck so far. I keep updating the TomTom but not seen anything yet. I expect it will be a map update, yes?

I fluked the chatbot logic script into passing me onto a support agent. No hard information. Only that the team is working on it and an update will be issued at some time in the future. (Surprise surprise!)
I thought my Toyota navigation software was behind the times but hoped TT would be on top of the change as its been known about for many months, nearly a year.
Luckily my car has a speed limiter function so I can avoid drifting above the limit which changes so frequently across town many people stay at 20 when the limit is upped to 30, and once I was behind someone in a 40 doing 20. Oh well.

I have tried too, and got through to the email customer service, but still no updates

Just updated my Go Discover with a full map and hoped it may have included the major Welsh speed reduction changes ... alas not.

You don't need Tomtom to tell you when it's a 20, it's every town and village in Wales simples.

But it isn't! Plus it is very unclear in many areas that go from 50, 40, 20 then nothing at all and it's clear that signs reverting back to 50 have not been put up. Hence the need for SatNavs to advise the limits.

It is not up to Tomtom to tell you the correct speed at which you should drive.

These are the signs placed on the road which indicate the correct speed at which you must drive.

You've missed my point Willy ... there are no signs!!!! Since this mental blanket speed limit was imposed, many signs have been vandilised, others not replaced and drivers are unsure of the limits in many area's. Clearly the powers that be who have initiated the limits know, many drivers do not. Speed signs would be a great help if they were present.

It would be foolish to rely on your sat nav for speed limit information, it is very often incorrect.

@elton
If the towns haven't yet provided precise sign location info, to resume 50 speed for example, and the signs aren't there, there's not much TT can do. TT does use visual confirmation as well, but if you can't see them, neither can TT's 'spotters'.

It could be messy for some time.

I have the Amigo app from TomTom on my phone and that has all of the 20mph zones in Wales, so they do have the information

I agree with Elton regarding the damaged signs, I live not that far away from him in Wales. I am constantly looking for signs that are either not there, or have been sprayed over.

@raesewell

If only it were that clear cut! It is a problem because the speed reduction is not consistent and clearly you've not read previous comments. Press information might give the impression that 30 has been blanket reduced to 20mph ... but the reality is this is an over simplistic statement.

Roads that were 30 are now sometimes 20 and sometimes no change at all. Similarly, 40mph limits are now sometimes 40, 30 or even 20mph. There is no consistency at all ... motorists from outside the area would not understand the complexities of it all unless they visited affected areas.

It would be very helpful if signs were in place to act as a reminder, or shown on satnav; guidance for motorists if you will.
