voice gone

Just updated software and paid $75 for a year's worth of map updates, now the voice won't work. Any workarounds out there?

Did you have text to speech (I'm assuming you mean that) before?

If so, what software did you just update? What do you have under voice preferences? Do you have a computer voice selected?

Can you reboot the unit by holding the power button about 10 seconds till you hear the drum sound is heard (unless your model has a dedicated reset hole in the bottom of the unit)?

I have a TomTom XL IQ Routes model GPS. Its 'voice' used to tell me where to turn etc., but now it has no voice. It still seems to compute the route and pick up satellite signals, but no voice. I have it set to a computer voice, "Dave". I have reset, and I do get the tom tom noise, but no voice, as before.

Sometimes, updating the firmware blows away some of your preferences and settings. Be sure that you are still configured such that sound is enabled, and that spoken directions are enabled.

Thanks dhn and canderson. It's all fixed. Just found that Dave's voice had been deleted apparently, perhaps to make room for the updates. Changed voice to "Richard" and I have voice.

You aren't trying this on the emulator (Operate my Unit in Home). Computer voices don't work there.

What is the application installed on your device?
