Hi all,
I switched to a Surface Pro 5 and installed MyDrive Connect, all so far so good... well, it was already small on my Surface Pro 4, but now the font and window is just barely readable. The device has a 12.3” Display with resolution: 2736 x 1824 (267 PPI) screen.

You can see in the screenshot the MyDrive window and fonts are really small.
I know I can increase the zoom factor in the screen settings, but it would be ridiculous to increase to 400% just for MyDrive :).

I know there has been issues reported with high res screens and there were fixes to it, but I can't find it anymore.
Does anyone have a clue or an idea how to fix the issue?

Thanks in advance for any hint, cheers
Jean

Welcome to TomTomForums.
If you can enter data in the MyDrive Connect screen it should be possible to tap the "Full Screen Square" on that screen.

I'm on a computer with a 3840x1200 screen, almost the same pixel count as yours, just in a wider format, and no issues here.

Lest there be any doubt, I believe Arno is recommending that you try using this "Full Screen Square". Also, just grabbing a corner and stretching it manually expands the entire image here, including text.

Hi both,
thanks for the welcome and fast feedback :).
Well, yes the window gets bigger... but the font size itself remains the same, as also seen on your screenshots...

Any other idea?
Cheers,
Jean

It seems that @canderson took YOUR screen shot and just added the pointer.
[ ]means Active Window can be enlarged.jpg

Single square means the window can be enlarged.

[[ ]] means Active Window is full size.jpg

Overlapping squares means the window is full size.

I feel your issue is a Surface Pro question. I suggest you ask at

Hi Arno,

thanks again... so far I was clear about increasing the size of a window, working in IT since 30 years :)! But agreed, I overlooked canderson just added the pointer to my screen...

I'll give it a go in the Surface forum, I thought these are app specifics, but possibly it is a common problem with older programms running on high-res screens...

Cheers, Jean

Ok, just for sake of completeness:

The issue is definitively impacting many apps apps, not only on surface but also other high-res screns.
Some solution proposals like changing the DPI scaling of the app compatibility shortcut or using a specific manifest file did not help neither...
TomTom support has escalated the issue, I'll post any significant result here, just in case other users are struggling :).

Same problem. It's entirely possible to stretch the window to fit the monitor entirely but the contents of the window remain miniscule. I need to walk up to my Samsung 60” screen with keyboard and mouse to fill out user name and password. I have all settings set to large on my PC.
Making the TomTom mydrive connect window bigger using stretch at the corners of the window or the expand button between the minimise and cancel button doesn't help to increase the size of the information. I've been a PC user since dos and win-95. It's not because we don't know what the cancel, expand and minimise buttons do

Same problem, just got a new Dell XPS computer. I have been using mydrive connect for several years.
Does anyone know of a resolution to this issue?

Did you ever get a resolution from TomTom?
Many thanks.

got the same small font problem on my HP Envy with 4k screen, incidentally on my older HP Envy with 1080p resolutio the the font size is ok, I presume TOMTOM MyDrive connect isn't fully compatible with 4k screen resolution? it doesn't matter if you click on the square top right as suggested, the font size remains the same either way

Hi all,

sorry I've overseen your request for feedback... No, unfortunately no solution from TomTom :-(.
If anyone has a clue, let us know...

Cheers, Jean

Hi Guys.
TomTom support s**ks - unfortunately never was able to get any meaningful updates or fixes EVER in last 10 years even giving very detailed step by step guide with technical details.

To fix your issue you need to set compatibility mode for your shortcut of My Drive Connect (it works also with Smart Media Connect - which is mostly same codebase, just for R-Link1 rebranded for Smart)

Got to Properties.
On Compatibility tab select "Change high DPI settings" and then in the popup window select
"Override high DPI scaling behaviour. Scaling performed by:" to "System (Enhanced)".
Click Ok, then click apply.

And you are done!

Hi Stranger,
this is now weird... finally someone provides a promising solution, and when I open MyDrive Connect before applying the changes, I find that the font is now perfectly readable on my Surface 4 running Win11!
Now either MS has patched the issue somehow, as the setting is still defaulting to 'Application' and changing to 'System; Enhanced' does not have an effect, or I am just going mad here...
I'll check on my Surface 3, whe the issue initially appeared, and post an update here...

Thanks for your input in any case!
Cheers,
Jean

Follow-up, see screenshots for details...
- It appears on my Surface 3 I have a newer version of My Drive Connect, v4.1.12.4210, whereas on my Surface 4, I have v4.4.0.5040.
- On the Surface 3 with the newer MyConnect version, I have the 'tiny font' issue, but not on the Surface 4 with the older MyConnect version
- Changing the properties for High DPI does not have an effect on the Surface 3, font remains the same.

So I'll leave the 'old' version of MyConnect on my new Surface and try to get it installed on the old Surface... seems the issue is still open :)...

@JMatscher you need to check only second checkbox, not both, then it will work. Make sure you click apply in the main properties window afterwards.
Please note that version 4.4.0.5040 - is the newest and latest and still has the same issue.

Also make sure you close the program fully before updating shortcut settings!!! if you just clicked - X - it will move into tray:

Hi Stranger,
absolutely correct, with only the one box checked it works...
Thanks a lot for the final solution, just sad TomTom support is so helpless :)!

And the icing on the cake, I also had similar issues with BeyondCompare... and using this setting also solves this!

All the best,
Jean

@JMatscher glad it is sorted for you - it will work on many applications where they were not implemented properly to support scaling.
