The device has started to shut down low battery on screen. I thought it was the cradle but even if I plug the device without the cradle into the 12 V or USB it shuts down randomly? When I press the start button it starts as if it has shut down completely not gone to sleep if you get my meaning?
I’ve brought it home to update and plugged into house socket and no shut down?
Any advice please.

The fact that it runs fine on mains power at home but shuts down randomly on 12V or USB in the vehicle points strongly to a power supply problem in the cab rather than the device itself - the vehicle circuit may be delivering insufficient or unstable current, especially under load (engine running, other devices drawing power). Try a known-good, high-output USB charger (2A or above) with a fresh cable directly in the cab, and test on a different 12V socket if one is available. If the shutdowns continue even with that, the internal battery is the next suspect - lithium cells in devices of this age often can no longer hold enough charge to cover any momentary drop in supply voltage, causing the device to interpret it as a flat battery and shut down hard rather than sleep.
