Tomtom XXl 540TM and downloading maps

Hi all

I am considering buying this GPS. As I understand it, it comes with the whole map of the USA. Can I download additional maps to it from places around the world? I realize that it only has 2G memory. Can I store the resident maps offline and replace it with other maps - and then replace it back once done? I just need to know whether using the unit with other maps is feasible. Thanks.

Since that model doesn't have an SD card, it is necessary to "offload" the map you don't want to your PC and then load the map you do want back onto your unit. But yes, it's a workable solution once you get the hang of it.
