Tomtom vs. Google Maps on trips abroad

Hey guys. For those who had experience with both systems when traveling abroad and driving a car (yours or rental), which system proved to be more reliable and useful in a foreign setting?

With a Tomtom, you can plan a route, add stops and save it from home.

With Google Map you can't do this.

First, you may wish to change your model to Discover 7" in your device details. Very few here will know what a 1YB7.002.00 is!

I've taken my various TTs to Europe and Central America, and have had good luck in both. I'm often surprised at how good the traffic data is even in somewhat remote regions of other countries.

That said, I've often done so due to custom POI support, which is NOT available on the Discover or any of the later models. I did this because I could set up locations well in advance and not have to worry over whether I'd be able to find them in the device POI list. So when I travel, I'll take one of my older models along, not the more recent ones. For me, this feature is also a + vs. using Google maps.
