TomTom one xl need help

I just got my new tom tom one xl yesterday it worked fine yesterday installed it on my computer and it work but today i go and try turning it on and it will turn on but will show a red X and wont go any farther then that i tryed reseting it and it wont work in the car to i need help to no how to fix this problem it just keeps showing the red x all the time if any one can give me any hints it will be very help full for me

Are you by chance using an SD card? or just booting from the internal memory?

we just use internal memory when we start the tom tom it plays a quick tune and then goes straight to the red x

When you say you installed on your computer, did you install HOME on your computer? or you did a backup?

we installed tom tom home and the computer detected the tom tom one and installed that by it self

Can you connect to HOME and use VTT?

I dont realy no wht vtt is but we can start home but it wont find our tom tom device

In HOME and with the XL connected to the computer, can select Device | Change Device and select the ONE XL?

Can you see the TomTom files in your computer's (Windows or Mac) file manager?

I'm just fishing here, but have you tried hooking up your TomTom to your computer and checked to see if there are any system files on your device? Use your computer's file manager...not TomTom Home. It sounds like some or all of the necessary files are corrupt or missing. Of course, this process assumes that the device's firmware is intact and will allow you to connect via USB. Failing that, you'll have to contact TomTom.

If you can browse for files using your computer...

Contact TomTom and ask that they send you a TT1 XL system disk and/or point you to a download from their site. Alternately, it may be possible for someone here to burn you a copy of their files. At the very least, maybe someone can list the files on their XL and send that to you. With that information in hand, you might be able to determine that you only need a couple of files to get you going.

One XL is not compatible with HOME

I was told by tech support that ONE XL is NOT compatible with HOME. That HOME will crash XL to the point that it will need to be returned.

As of today, DO NOT attach a ONE XL to a PC while running HOME!!

I have hooked my XL to Home several times and not had a problem. Infact, I downloaded from TOMTOM the Retail Store poi's last night no problems. I'm I just lucky?

Are you referring to a computer with Windows or Mac? Or just a computer in general?
