TomTom helps Nab GPS Thief

Earlier this year we reported on the fact that the rate of stolen GPS units was on the rise here around Boston. Well, TomTom is now reporting that they helped out the Cambridge, MA police to nab a GPS thief. Apparently TomTom, which has its US headquarters only a few miles from Cambridge, donated a TomTom GO 700 unit to the police department who used it as a decoy for a GPS thief. Well, sure enough one came long, broke into the unmarked police car while it was under surveillance and stole the TomTom GO 700. They nabbed the thief who later confessed to stealing other GPS units. Nice Job.

That is outstanding! That crime is on the rise everywhere, and it never ceases to amaze me how people continue to leave these units worth hundreds of dollars in their cars!
