I have a TomTom 8270 to which, after a software update via WiFi, no map can be added. Neither via WiFi nor from the card.

Perhaps, perhaps not, @Willy875

There is still map and firmware support direct from TT for those units that didn't make the Telematics transition. I still have one Bridge device that I am updating that way.

To the OP:
When you boot your device, whose logo appears? TomTom, or Bridgestone?

If it is TomTom, let me know, and I'll explain how to use this web site

If it is Webfleet, let me know, and we'll see what we can do with this:

Using one of these, we may be able to cleanly download your device's maps.

The 8270 (and 8275) is very much a part of the Bridge (aka Italia) family of products. Anything that looks roughly like the following is part of that family of products:

True, the Bridge family was not typically sold direct. Not sure of the relevance of that, though.

The OP still either has a unit that is still under the influence of TomTom or changed to or was always under the influence of Bridgestone. Which of those is the case is what is important here. Whether the 'update-locations' file in the root of the device is locked up (which is the case with Bridgestone controlled devices) decides which of the two above sites is preferred (or required, if Bridgestone) for any possible manual updating.

I have both versions here in hand.

Were you there on the team with Wouter, Willy?

I downloaded from 'https://mdm.webfleet.com/static/#/downloads' TomTom PRO 827x Map TRUCK EU (1090.11441) and TomTom PRO 827x Firmware (18.452.92e09eb.0001.132) and put them on an SD card. After that I inserted the card into the GPS, turned on the device, but nothing happened. The message 'No Maps Available' appears on the device. If I press the 'Add a Map' button, the message 'No WiFi connection' appears, and if I connect the device via WiFi, the message 'Your software is up-to-date' appears. Why can't I add a map? Until now the device was working properly.

I hope you went to the correct site.

To be clear,

  • The blank uSD card should be inserted into the device first. It will 'format' the card, and leave the lost.dir on it.
  • Then the contents of the zip file you downloaded should be extracted to the root of the device. That should leave two folders and three files in the root of the card.
  • After booting the device with the uSD card inserted, it may make some comment about the presence of an update.
  • Then it is necessary to request that the device perform the update using the "Software update" widget.

I also had a TomTom 7250 Telematics, which I did the same with updating the maps and the firmware (if applicable). On that device, everything worked correctly. This is also a Webfleet (Telematics) device and in addition there is the possibility of updating via WiFi, but after an update via WiFi, only the firmware without the map was updated.

Check to see if the ttt/mdm/1 folder from Bridgestone on the card has the full set of package-list_bridge (a large number of ~32,359KB files) on it. ONE of these should include the first two characters of your device's serial number (e.g., if your device serial starts with "OG", then a file ending in _OG_pnd-europe or something similar).

Next, check the ttt/mdm/1/map folder to be sure it has all of the map files. I'd expect at least six *.part0x files there.

The device serial starts with OE and on the SD card there is a file 'package-list_bridge_XX1234X00006_OE_pnd-europe'. In the map folder there are 9 files (europe-truck_1090.11441_arm.ttpkg.part00......europe-truck_1090.11441_arm.ttpkg.part08).

Are you definitely hooked up through Webfleet, or perhaps instead through TomTom? What does your device say on the screen during boot? Matters a lot.

Only show card icon. I tried install from webfleet web europe truck, europe and europe truck and car map but Only show:

Unsupported rescue image for OJ device

EDIT- on start is tomtom and webfleet logo

Where/how did you obtain your update files?

Yours is the second time we have seen a failure with reference to something called reset.img, which we always knew instead as rescue.img on TomTom's original code. If it's the supposed to be the same thing, it's the fall-back file that the device uses to load an old, known good OS in the event of a corrupt system.

Also, you received what appears to be an error related to the 'signature' (which ONLY occurs with Bridgestone code) where there's an associated signature file included with every important file.

Are you sure that you got the update files from Bridgestone and not TomTom? It looks like there's a mix going on here.
