TomTom 710 behaving oddly

Hi all, new to the site so please bear with me...

I've got a Tom Tom 710 which is exibiting some wierd behaviour.
Firstly it will switch itself off and on again and to get it going again I have to reset the unit and secondly the unit will also freeze mid journey and will require a reset (not good if it does it approching a motorway junction)

Everytime I turn the unit on (charged or not) it will ask me to reset my preferences and run through the help screen (there is an option where it asks if I want a tour through the other features... it doesn't let me say yes or no, it just does it...

Also the battery life is a little rubbish, but I usually run it from the car charger anyway.

Has anyone got any ideas? Is it knackered or will replacing a component solve matters?

Don't know if it'll help but download the Clear Flash tool from here: TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems - Support home - Select your product and run it 3 times.

Hi, I ran the flash too and this hasn't worked, the unit still turns itself off and freezes
