TomTom 140 Noobie Problems

Well, maybe we have a lemon rather than a TomTom

The unit has never gone beyond the beginning splash screen TomTom when not connected to my WinXP PC

So I connected to my XP system installed TomTom Home, after install it, automatically says I need an update
So when I start the update it downloads and trys to install the update but fails writing the PNDnavigator to the root of L:\.

I did not back up with explorer as it seems I should have as I read through the forums.

I am computer savy If some one can help with file structure because there is only 511mb of space left on the unit and was thinking it is running out of disk space

If the unit is new, then return it if it never booted up properly.
