hi i have a tomtom one had it about three years i think anyway while working away my car lighter didnt work so i brought a cheap adapter kit with different heads that you swap around so i thought i was charging my tomtom but now the unit is dead wont charge at all does this mean it game over cos i thing i frazzled something inside or can someone help me sort it out?

Does the unit charge when connected by usb cable to the computer? Do other accessories charge ok in the cig lighter port?

Did you sense a burning smell in the unit? (hope not)

Do you still have the replacement charger you bought?

If you do, can you check what the output voltage is?

A very common mistake is to assume that the TomTom uses 12Volts because that's what comes out of the cigarette lighter socket. But the TT charger actually reduces that raw 12V down to 5V max.
