TomTom Model(s)
Go Comfort
Maby you can help me to resolve that question I have. If you happen to have TTS on your TT and have a model that have more that 266 mhz ex: TT 920. I have a problem when I drive my XLS prononce wirdly street name. But when I try to correct it in MAPSHARE he prononce it perfectly. The difference I think it is about the load of the cpu that can occur when I am driving my car that he dose not have when my car is stopped and I am doing a street name prononciation correction.

Ex: Leblanc sound lebl?.
Is it my XL-S prolem or just every TT or just my device?

I have a exempe here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBLBycqf574

I'm not sure if this is any help, but my 920 using Susan (US TTS) also pronounced sound major cities in Calif really weird. Then last night I did the 7.15 map upgrade and for some reason, TTS sounds a little better. Still needs some work, but I hear a definite improvement.

Pronounciation is mostly a matter of a phonetic field for streets and cities within the map. IOW there are separate fields for the street/city spelling field and an additional field for the phonetic data. That is the information I got when I visited the Loquendo web site who supply the text-to-speech and voice recognition software to Tomtom.

Sometimes I wish I could access the pronounciation data but it is imbedded somewhere in one of the many map fields.

There's a definite disconnect

I don't think it's a processing speed thing but part of the text to speech program. My issue: I have a street called Church Meadow. When navigating, it pronounces it as "Church Meda-" like the 'w' is missing from the navigation. Changing it under Map Corrections and it's pronounced correctly. Another is any road that is loaded as "XXXX Road" instead of "Rd". When navigating it pronounces "road" as you would "broad" (think Fishing Rod). Under Map Corrections it says road like "rowed your boat".

Des Moines

Wait till you hear TomTom TTS say "Des Moines" !!!

And Coeur de’ Alene...... OMG
