speech to text

hi i have just bought a tomtom xl 2 europe iq routes and it's meant to have text to speech?i have tried setting it to the computer voice like it's meant to be but it still wont read out the street names or even tell me when i'm coming to a roundabout,any help please?

Have a look for speech preferences and set the option for "Read aloud street names" - Mike
