Smart media system
Hi, I have a smart forfour with tomtom media system. I have just done a map update and that seems fine but now if I pass a speed camera I am not getting any alert, was fine before. Also in settings on the car media system the speed camera icon is greyed out so unable to select it. Any ideas please?

Is your speed camera service a paid subscription?
Hi, thanks for your help. As far as I know that shouldn’t be the problem but I will check now you’ve mentioned it.

I did ask the question although on our devices map updates and traffic subscriptions do not go hand in hand.

This is the first time I see your vehicle mentioned in the forum and hope that another reader has some answers for you.

Did a little poking around, and will say that I am thoroughly confused.

Evidently the Smart Media system comes with 3 years of Live subscription, and that can be renewed, but renewing that doesn't seem to include the 'safety' camera data. That wasn't a surprise since they are separate services, but ... I found no separate safety cam renewal option for that device at the main TT site.

I would definitely call tech support:

I had the same issue with my Smart Media System after an update. After protracted conversations with my dealer over a period of four months, I have finally been informed by them that Smart turned off the Speed Camera Alerts function from the live updates back in April. Once you update your system you lose access to this part of the service. I have had this confirmed directly by Smart UK. Their explanation for this is that it was a business decision in order to align the service to the Mercedes-Benz base navigation offering. I could understand them discontinuing to offer this on any new vehicles but retrospectively turning the service off to existing customers without any redress seems a bit high handed to me.
