I joined this forum a long time ago, but those log in details are not accepted. Therefore had to register again.
On to my query. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Go6200 which is all up to date and owned/used for some years now.
Why have TomTom still not sorted out the routing when fastest is selected there are many times when the directions try to take me down a single track road when there is a perfectly good A road alternative? The road was closed at the roundabout, further along.
A recent example was a road closure with the route to avoid was absolutely stupid. If I could post a screenshot I would. Why isn't it possible to insert an image from my computer?

A522 towards Beamhurst, cart track on the left just after Taylormade, Watery Lane. That was the detour. Check streetview to see why it's silly.

The Tomtom will route you down a dirt track if it saves you 10 seconds.

And it probably doesn't save any time, but in reality takes longer. That detour I highlighted above caused me to reverse to the mainroad, almost 1/4 mile becasue I met a "convoy" travelling the other way.
I had similar yesterday travelling to Stafford. A perfectly good A51 which took me to the same place on the highlighted route. But no, the "fastest" route was single track country lanes which I ignored. It re-routed the fastest way, A51 to A518.
Just to add, TomTom aren't alone with this, that other well known, rhymes with charmin', does the same.

In route planning settings check to avoid unpaved roads.

The unpaved roads selection helps you avoid unpaved roads it doesn't stop Tomtom routing you down very minor roads to save a second or two.
