I have to use certain streets to get out of my sub-division with my 5th. wheel camper which is 12 ft. 4 inches high without tearing up my roof and equipment on the roof.
I have set up about 9 itinerary routes to different campgrouds. All of these itinerary routes use the same streets to get out of sub-division.
Everything is routed perfect as long as I am connected to my computer and examine each route, but when I do a correct disconnect and the unit restarts the routes change and go different than before.
What is my problem. Anyone else experiencing these route problems. I think I am using the latest updates (Home latest release, App 6.525, OS:1619, GPS v1.21, Boot 4.86, Map: North America v665.1293

joeneal.

I believe my problems are solved. No, I didn't junk it. A Tom Tom Technician gave me first class procedure on how to repair the unit.

Route issures Fix

These are the instructions I received from Tom Tom Technician.

We are terrible sorry that you are experiencing this difficulty with your unit please let us help you get it back up and running, we recommend you to perform a soft reset on your unit:

- Please charge the unit for 2 hours before you perform the reset.

- You can reset the unit by removing it from the cradle and using a straightened paper clip in the reset hole on the unit's bottom.

- Please keep the device connected to a power supply while you turn it on.

Please refer to the following link for further information:

http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=4&query=reset&FID=7134

After you performed the soft reset, please connect the TomTom ONE to your computer and install the latest application available through TomTom HOME. At the following link you will find detailed instructions on how to do it:

http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=4&query=application&FID=6218

Please also run the "TomTom Clear Flash tool" on your device, at the following link you will find detailed instructions:

http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=4&query=flash+memory&FID=6221

We also believe that the itinerary routes you have created are recalculated by your GO 910 according to updated traffic information, this is why the route changes when te unit is disconnected from the computer.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, we trust that this troubleshooting will restore your device to normal operation.

Thank you again for contacting us, if you have any further questions or comments, please e-mail or call us at 1-866-486-6866 Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 7 pm EST.

Remember that at TomTom we believe in showing you the way, the easy way.

Best Regards,

TomTom support

I must tell you none of the links would work except the link to the Clear Flash Tool.
I am running a dual boot system, Windows XP pro on (1) hard drive
and Vista Ultimate on the (2) hard drive.

I use Vista Ultimate to work with my Tom Tom Go 910. When I plug the USB into my computer it starts looking for the stuff on the TT. During this process Home software begins flashing down at the bottom of screen on the task bar. When I click it it gives me (2) choices, one, Install the software (which is already installed) two, Cancel. I think that doing the cancel of the install keeps the route intact. If I do the install the route changes after I disconnect from my computer.
Don't known exactly what's happening make some of the Guru's can join in. Could be something wrong with the Home software and Vista Ultimate and maybe a fix is called for to be Vista Compatiable.
The reason for thinking this is every once in a while (not always) a box will come up giving me choices of The software installed correctly or re-install the software useing recommended settings. (This box comes up if I click on install the Home Software).

What version of HOME do you have? HOME is compatible with Vista.
Im also running HOME on my Vista laptop with no problems.

I also belive it might be the version of HOME that is installed. Was HOME initially installed through a CD or when you connected your 910?

The latest version of HOME (1.5.106) should work with vista. To get the latest use this link - www.tomtom.com/home

A little more data for you folks.
If I re- install Home when it ask to my routes change when I disconnect.
If I connect again and re-install Home my routes go back to
correct routes when I disconnect.
If I connect anytime afterwards and DON'T re-install Home my routes remail ok.
This is crazy. There must be a compatability issure. I can boot to Windows XP Pro on my dual boot system and don't have this issure.
I also don't have this issure on my Dell laptop running Windows XP Pro.
Link with better info than previous link.

Pedro2NR,
Removed Home from within Control Panel, rebooted, checked for pointers to left over folder/files/desktop icon.
Re-installed Home for Tom Tom web site.
Same Problems. Good idea, but didn't work. I still get the flashing box on task bar wanting Home to be installed again.

When you look at the hard drive of the 910, i think there is an autorun.inf file. Open that file in notepad, can you paste the contents of that file here?

Is your User Account control on or off with your Vista?
I have mine set on off because I didn't want windows to keep ask me if I want to continue using a program before I executed it.

Does the autoplay turn on when you connect ur unit to your computer? If it does, do you select Run TomTom Home?

digital-flex,
This is the file contents.

[autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC.

Pedro2NR,
My User account was set to "ON". I removed the check mark in box to set it to "OFF" as you have yours.
It does not autorun in Vista Ultimate, but on my Dell laptop it does autorun.

Pedro2NR,
I have set Home to autorun using Vista Ultimate. My question to you is when autorun comes up do I cancel it of select to run it?

Route issures Fix

digital-flex / Pedro2NR,
Thanks to you I no longer get the flashing install on my task.
Your tweaks/advice corrected my problem.
Again,
Thanks for your advice and concern.
