I know there is several threads on this but nothing worked so far. I was updating my One 125 TomTom and it backed up then deleted then downloaded map US and Canada (this was already a option i didnt purchase a new one) and then it came up and gave me a error. I dont remember the exactly what it said but didnt give me a whole lot of options .. anyways when the device starts up no ofcourse it now gives me "No maps found!" message..

my question is how do I get my map back without having to buy a 70.00 map!

okay.....Home is NOT involved in any of the following:

Use Explorer to see the contents of your unit. Look at the map folder installed and look at the contents. Are there a bunch of files and folders in there?

Backup the contents of your unit using Explorer, not Home.

Your newly downloaded map will first be stored on the computer in this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

See this link on how to extract the map to the computer without using Home.

After doing so, restart the unit and see if that helps.

If so, make another Explorer backup.

Hello,

I am having the same issue as the op with my new 125se. Everything was working fine on this unit today. I decided to use the free map upgrade and in the middle of the upgrade my comp went into hibernate and stopped the update...:(. I will never use a laptop for this type of upgrade again:mad:.

So I followed the directions here on how to get the map back on the unit but am getting a message that says..."problem with map".."you cannot use this map on this device: United_States. Can anyone help me? Thank You.....

Well, make sure you have the latest application for your model. connect to Home and check if there are application updates.

Then, hold the power button on your unit for about 15 seconds to reset it and see if Home allows the install then.

If not, see the information I provided earlier about extracting the map without using Home.

See if anything here helps.

My One XL produced the " No Maps Found!" message this afternoon when I powered it on, I was not attempting to install any maps or upgrades". I had used the unit succesfully earlier today. Via the link above I have managed to confirm that my One XL does have a map folder, New_Zealand, but some of the filenames (and the data within I expect) appear to have become corrupt, they consist of non-alphanumeric characters.

I confess to having been foolish enough not to back the unit up when I first purchased it and because it was a refurbished one (bought through GraysOnline) it didn't come with a CD so I have no alternate copy of the files anywhere (i.e. I can't re-install them on the GPS unit from Home through Add Traffic...-> Items on my... because it isn't there).

What would be the recommended course of action here please? Anything else I can try myself? Should I contact TomTom support and what sort of response can I expect?

Update: I updated the software on the unit through Home and now instead get an error message: "You cannot use this map on this device: New_Zealand"

I've not heard of files becoming corrupt when NOT updating something on the unit before.

Well, make an Explorer, not Home, backup now. See if the corrupt files get backed up. They probablt won't be able to be.

Once all you can back up is backed (try to ensure the remaining files in the NZ map folder are backed up) then format the unit. Don't use quickformat.

Then try to restore the backup. See what happens then.

Thanks for the suggestion. I decided to try the official support channels first. Rang the local freephone number and was very impressed with the service. Tom tom have agreed to do a reload under warranty and I have sent the unit away to have this done. First thing I'll do when it's returned is a backup :).

I did do an Explorer backup though and you were correct, the corrupt files did not back up.
