New Tomtom Start45 - Home not working

So I just bought a Start45 and I haven't been able to get a GPS signal so I figure I have to register it first right? I downloaded Home 2 and connect my device. The computer recognises it and goes into the search and install of new updates but never gets past that point. It just stays as loading for ever! I have tried reinstalling Home with no luck.

Please help me out! This is sooooo frustrating!
 
It should not need registering to get a gps fix but it does need the latest application installed (9.430) as earlier ones had a bug which caused problems getting a gps lock.

So indeed you do need a working Home 2.

When you do log into Home prior to searching for updates, you do enter an email address/password for your unit, right?

If so and you are still not getting the Update to work, try this:

1. Download the freeware version of Revo Uninstaller from here:
http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html

And completely remove Home 2.

2. Get a fresh copy from tomtom.com/home

3, Try the process again (don't forget to log in properly)

If no luck, then call CS at 1300 135 604
 
Do you have a firewall or anti-virus blocking transmission to/from TT's servers by any chance???
