My tom tom was a awaaaay off course today..why?

So as a usual travel assignment today I called up one of my addresses and about half thru the route my Tom Tom 630 decided to send me off the main regular course to another route miles out of my way ..
This I ignored but the device reminded me every time it recalculated to turn around and go back..

I finally cleared the route and restarted it again and it worked fine..
What happened???

Did you have IQ routing enabled on the route? Maybe it was thinking the route it was suggesting was faster? Or a case of faulty mapping data?

It was and is the same map I have been using for months,, it just out of the blue decided to make its own route .. which was strange ..
after clearing and reentering the same map it then proceeded normally ...
My main question was.. was this a normal occurance for others who may have had this happen to them... once in a while..??

That kind of thing typically only happens to me if there's a bogus MapShare problem. I believe those (the MapShare) problems are often caused by someone blocking a route due to construction or whatever, and then neglecting to unblock the route after the impasse has been cleared. I can usually spot these when the road turns to a dashed light purple line on my map.
