Mazda CX5 grand touring-??? how much for Tom Tom?

I just bought a Mazda CX5 grand touring without the navigation package. Salesman told me I could add the Tom Tom in dash navigation at any time. If so, how much is it (I'm in Michigan, USA)? How does it get into my car? is it worth the cost? Are there any additional costs ie: monthly fee? How do updates occur?

I have never had a navigation system but I test drove a CX5 with one and thought it was really fun.

Unfortunately, (as far as I know) the "In-dash" models are not available in the shops or even from TomTom. I could be wrong, but I think they have to be ordered through the car dealership.
