Hi alariconeto,

I know the answer, but it won't make you happy I am afraid!

Only TomTom maps are compatible with a TomTom, and they do not offer a map for anywhere in South America.

There is no possibility to convert any other maps to run on a TomTom. TomTom maps are proprietary, as are those of other manufacturers.

Sorry that I could not offer something more positive.

Outside of North America & Europe your best bet is a Garmin handheld.
You have to download maps in IMG file format (they're created & maintained by users - free on the Internet) then use a program named IMG2GPS to load them to your GPS. There is also a program Metrowizz to make them autorouting.
I tried to find out the sites, but one of them is
http://www.tracksource.org.br/index.php?id=1,0,0,1,0,0

Beware: navigating using these handhand is no fun, once you get use to the lightning fast route calculation and reroute calculation of TomTom. You need a knowledgeable co-pilot.
Loading maps on these Garmins are a pain, it take forever.
