I was in Indiana last weekend, and noticed that the POI list in my 140s was missing *many* local restaurants. For example, a MacDonalds restaurant that has been open for several years was not in the database. This was with map version 830. I was not impressed.

Can anyone shed any light on why the POI database is so incomplete?

    Thanks!
    /Don

Your model has a compressed map to make it fit your unit. As such, it contains a reduced set of built in pois.

Understand that even a complete set that comes with some higher end models may contain 6 million pois but, in fact, there are some 25-30 million businesses of various types in NA.

At least you have the capability with mapshare corrections to add a missing poi. Other brands of gps units don't even offer that.
