GO 620
Hiya. A friend bought a Go 620 a couple of years back as a present but never gave it at. They have since sold it to me (unused).

It seems to work OK but I noticed that the "Lifetime maps and Cameras" seem set to expire soon.
Should my friend have given me their original activation code or indeed would they not have one.
I havent asked yet as if they had one they probably lost it and not aware of it.
Perhaps Im worrying about nothing and the updates will be allowed one the present ones expire.
Thanks for your help

You can try CHAT support (only method of contact) to clarify the situation:

I am curious as to why you think the lifetime maps are about to expire. What indication is the device giving you of that?

Hi Thanks for asking.

Since you bought it Unused, are you the first one to register this device with TomTom.
If yes, you must Activate the Lifetime subscription.
What does it say when you click the drop down arrow next to "Install" ?

If you click Support at the top the next page should have a button like "Contact us" (most likely bottom right hand corner) to Chat.
Do that before clicking anything on the window that should show when you use the drop down at Install.

Thanks,
I tried updating speed cameras. My Tomtom 620 appears to have downloaded it yet my drive connect appears to say its about to expire - screen shot

Thanks for reply.
I`n not sure how I get to the "next page" to start a chat.

https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb click (Contact us) bottom right hand.

Chat means typing. Ask why it suggests to activate 2 month free when you are supposed to have life time maps and cameras free.
If your friend did not activate the device and you are the first one to do so, you are the 'original' owner. Have a story ready why you are only activating the service now.

The story is its been unused and in a drawer for 2 maybe three years thats all. it does seem odd yet the 620 let me update and says its up to date. of course i dont know that till it expires or not. but the my drive connect says its about to expire. in the days of proper firms selling stuff you could give them a call but nowadays seems a bit difficult.
modern practices are a bit backwards

Thanks.
Type where though? I`m typing here and I`m not any wiser.
The person I bought it off says there was no activation code, none needed, it came already with lifetime maps speed cameras and traffic. I am still pondering it. I`m not as worldly wise or computer savvy as many of you are.

There is no activation code fro the 620. You must go in line and activate the subscription.

Why are you refusing to contact TomTom as outlined to you?

TomTomForums has no connection to TomTom the company. This is a peer-to-peer forum from enthusiasts to help others. If the best advice available is not acted upon, we cannot help you any further.

I am not refusing to contact Tom Tom.
I have no idea how to contact Tom Tom.
I am in the UK.
Is there a telephone number to contact Tom Tom?
I am not very Tech Savvy by your standards so if you show me a way to contact Tom Tom I will do so.
I can`t see a way to get to next page and I can`t see a way to chat.
(I did see another site that seemed similar to this one and some of the moderators actually worked for Tom Tom but when I tried signing in on that page I kept getting an Error message. That site I suspect closed during 2020.)
Thanks

No

Chat in computerese is typing on a web site with a company representative.

After you read this, click the blue link above with your mouse.
When opened , at the bottom right hand there is a red field with the white text Contact us.
Click that one and when it opens type: How do I activate " Lifetime maps and Cameras " on my GO 620 ?
or cut-and-paste the text per instructions below.

NOTE: Right click on the blue link above and select "Open in a new Tab". After you open that Chat window on that page you can cut-and-paste How do I activate " Lifetime maps and Cameras " on my GO 620 ? into the open text field.
To cut, high light the text to be copied by putting the cursor on the left of the text, hold down the left mouse key, drag to the end of the text, let go, hold down the Ctrl key and the C. Go to where you want to insert that text (the chat box on the other tab) and use Ctrl +V to insert the text, saving you from typing it.

If you need further clarification ask, but be specific. The only stupid question is the one that was not asked.
