Lifetimes Maps a HUGE FRAUD.

    Bought a used Via 1605TM. The box said "Lifetime Maps" but when I hooked it up and connected to the TomTom My Drive, it said my "Lifetime Maps" had EXPIRED. Apparently the guy they picked to judge the "LIIFETIME" by had died.
    Anyone know what models of TomToms with "Lifetime Maps" are still valid?
    And NO I'm not wasting money on a NEW device. I hate their new operating system. It's extremely hard to use.

    Lifetime maps are supposed to be transferable. I'd call again and, this time, maybe speak to 2nd level support.

    NO It's a HUGE FRAUD. It's only lifetime until TomTom decides to stop supporting it.
    I was told my devices Lifetime Maps had EXPIRED. Even thought it was in perfect working order.

    This is what TomTom says.


    What does “lifetime” mean?

    Lifetime is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more.

    Indeed. Maps are still being supported for the 1605. I should know, I'm looking at one with 'current' maps. That phone call is definitely warranted, but no telling if the OP will go there.
    Doesn't seem possible to come to conclusion on problems with this user in recent threads. See

    Am curious to know the actual state of this device.
    Please look at the firmware and versions on your unit. This can be found at Settings / Me and my device / About my device
    Report fully what it says for "App" and what it says for "Map"
