Incoming Text Message

Hi, on my new 720, the bluetooth connection works great for incoming or outgoing calls. But if I receive a text, the 720 does not sound, nor will it allow me to retreive the text. It has a "Read/Write Message" icon, but it is grayed out. Should this work?

As I understand it, not all phones support all functionality.
