:confused: I have tried a search and tried to get a the new thread icon on your site but I couldn't find it. Sorry if I am writing this in the wrong area.
I have a GO 630 that I update on a regular basis. Just before going on holidays I updated it and version 2.8.3.9499 was loaded on. Also in the update process my task bar at the bottom changed.
Firstly the 5 white satellite bars disappeared and the compass is no longer there. I have tried to get them back but checking them off in the preference are makes no difference.
My maps are about 1.5 years old but that one update changed a lot of things on my GO 630.
?????? Any answers?

The new app update to 9.430 did indeed remove the compass and made other changes to the status bar.

If you have a backup (of app 8.351) you can restore to it.

Hi, I've moved your question into it's own topic for you.

The "New thread" icon should be at the top of the index page for every forum section, so for example the one for the "tech support" section should be available here. Are you seeing that OK?

Once you are actually reading a topic, you only get the button to "Reply" to that topic, so if you want to start your own thread, you just need to go back 'up the tree' if you know what I mean. There's always a row of links at the top, showing the forum structure ( eg TomTom Forums > TomTom Support > Technical Support > GO 630 - Changes after software update? ) and by clicking on one, you can get back to whatever level you want and start a new topic.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times now, but I've got three devices on v9.430 and they all do still have a compass option of sorts.

It's small and insignificant, and it doesn't have the point north / point to destination options it used to have, but it is there.

When users refer to loss of compass, I assume they mean the real compass that used to show, Andy. I'm aware that the little one you show is available on the new app.

Just before going on holidays I updated it and version 2.8.3.9499 was loaded on.

I forgot to mention this...
That sounds like a version number for the HOME PC software, rather than the TomTom application.
My HOME version is currently v2.8.3.2499 (rather than 9499)

From what you said, your TomTom application is probably v9.430, but to find out for sure, (and to find the version of your maps too) see the instructions in this topic:
How to find the version numbers of your maps and software
(down the bottom for v9 and above).

Thanks for the answers!

Many thanks to Andy_P and dhn for setting things straight. I have to remember to check my spelling and information before sending it. I do have v2.8.3.2499. The other was a typo error.
You are correct, the task bar has changed and as I said previously does not show the white bar graph or the compass in degrees.
The info you sent me will help me greatly.

Thanks again!!!!
