6200
Hi Folks, I'm new here but hoping I can find some answers. I'm sorry this is going to be a bit long-winded but I want to run through everything I've done to date.

My Go 6200 worked perfectly until a few months ago when, after recording a route, I used to get a qwerty keyboard so I could name the route. That doesn't happen anymore - instead it immediately goes back to the normal map display. It then sometimes appears in 'My Routes', but only after re-booting the unit with a time/date stamp. It does not give me an option of renaming the route.

I had a webchat with TomTom support and they suggested a software problem that may be fixed with a factory reset. The only problem is that I already have several routes saved and don't want to lose them. I tried connecting to MyDrive, but the routes would not sync. I left it connected overnight thinking it may take some time, but again, no sync.

During my chat with support, I was told that a factory reset will not delete my routes or maps. Is this correct? I thought it deleted everything.

Is there another way to extract the routes - maybe as a GPX file before I do the factory reset?

Today I noticed another problem with the battery. Even after a charge it would only switch on for a couple of minutes before shutting down saying 'Battery Empty' so I have a new battery on order. Today however, I noticed that the battery icon on the top left of the screen is showing a full battery when it shuts down, so maybe there is more wrong with it. Will a factory reset fix this?

So, the first answer I need is whether a factory reset will delete maps and routes. Then, how do I get to to sync with MyDrive?

Hi
If your routes have not been saved in Mydrive a factory reset will delete your routes on your GPS but not the maps.

Ok, thank you, that's what I thought. Obviously support were wrong to say it will not delete routes.

Why does it not sync with MyDrive? How can I check if it is connected to my PC? I hear a ping sound when I connect the USB cable, and also when I disconnect it. I have also tried a different cable, and a different USB port, but it still will not sync. I am signed in to MyDrive, and it shows my email address on the satnav when I go to Settings\MyDrive with a box at the bottom right saying 'stop sync', so it looks like it is connected and trying to sync, but it doesn't show My Routes in MyDrive.

On your GPS in Settings have you tried to log out of Mydrive then log in again with your login credentials.

Hi have the Tom Tom 620 when driving on the roads it’s telling me the wrong speeds for the roads and speed cameras don’t work any help thanks wendy

Yes, I've logged out and in on the PC. On the satnav I have clicked on 'stop sync' and that seems to have logged me out because I then had to re-enter my email and password - unless there is another way to logout.

No obligation to be connected to your computer, synchronization can very well be done via your SIM card.

Apparently your GO is not connecting to the Tomtom server

In the right corner on the GPS you have the cloud.

@Wez
Map errors must be reported to Tomtom via mapshare for speed cameras. Have you connected your GO 620 via Bluetooth to your smartphone.

If your smartphone is connected via Bluetooth, you must contact Tomtom customer service so that they can assign you the radar service.

Didn't know there was a SIM card - where is it? There is a slot for what I think is a memory card but I don't use that.

I see the cloud in the top right corner after I select the menu - it is not greyed out so does that mean it is connected?

If the cloud does not have a small cross, your GPS is connected to Mydrive.
On Mydrive, trying to add a favorite point is verified if you see the point on your GPS.
The SIM is located under the label.

No the cloud does not have a cross on it.

Just as an experiment I tried what you suggested adding a favourite point on MyDrive (I did this on the PC), and that instantly appeared on the list of Places, and on the GPS, same as when I deleted it, so there is a connection.

But My Routes do not appear in MyDrive. I click on the drop down menu/my items/routes and there is nothing there, only a message saying 'Import GPX file' and 'use this space to save all routes you love and want to use for later'. I have over 20 routes saved on the GPS under 'My Routes'. BTW, these are all routes that were recorded during a drive, not planned in MyDrive - I wonder if that may have anything to do with it.

I have just downloaded the MyDrive app on my phone and that shows as connected via bluetooth, but am I right to assume this should have instantly synced? It did not.

So the synchronization works.

In my opinion it is your GPX file that has a problem?

Try creating a new route with Mydrive then sending it to your GPS.

Ok, I tried creating a new route on the PC (I've never done this before so I googled it), but I do not have the icons on the left to plan a route etc., shown here from a youtube video:

so I did it using my phone and it instantly synced with the GPS.

Afterwards, I went back to the PC and simply entered a destination in the search box, and a route showed on the map, but did not send to my GPS, nor did it appear in My Routes.
