Tomtom GO for Android
A mac site has reported that journalists are being asked to attend a "future of navigation" presentation by Tomtom on 9/22.

While the mac site thinks it's the iPhone app, I doubt it. My guess is that it's something bigger.

There was an interesting article on cnn, showcasing the 3D capabilities of the new Teleatlas maps. I suspect this could be the presentation. Perhaps concurrent with announcing the next generation Tomtom GO or Carminat-like solution.

If this guess is right, its kind of a bummer. 3D images to are only a "nice to have" for driving, although useful for walking apps. I'd prefer that Teleatlas focus their energy on fixing all our mapshare corrections so we at least have reliable roads.

We'll, the "future of navigation" announcement is coming before we wake up.

The presentation is 10:30am - 2 pm Netherlands time = 4:30am - 8am eastern time (Tuesday).

The only hints publicly released so far is this document.

No official news release yet, but I've understood that TT will be discussing their open-source initiative with TA mapping, their plans for additional supported platforms for their mobile solution, re-announce the recently added live devices, that type of thing. Nothing really surprising was expected, but of course we never know until it hits the press.
