Anyone know how to access the factory installed POI's and add to them. Or where the files are stored on the hard drive?

They are on the unit in the specific map folder: poi.dat and crpoi.dat are the files.

Thanks, however how do I open .dat files? Also the list of .ov2 files displayed is for version 7 is there a more recent list for version 8.010?

IANAL, but I think that adding to or removing data from the poi.dat file would be a breach of TT's copyright (of a data collection) and a violation of the EULA.

Add to them using MapShare. Then all of us will benefit. Search through them using Operate My Go from TT Home. I'm sure TomTom has stored the POIs in a compressed, indexed database which is purposely difficult to interpret without TomTom software.

Unfortunately, nobody has gotten a successful download of poi updates since last March!
