External microphone placement

Hi,
where are you guys place external mic? From the clip it looks like it is designed to be clipped on steering wheel. It works great but i almost cut my fingers couple of times in dark also the wire got tangled few times. I tried visor but the sound was not good. Please post your experience and also if anybody know if it is designed to be placed on any particular place then please let me know.

I just got a 510 a few days ago and I clipped it onto my visor above my head. It's only about a foot from my mouth and people said they hear me pretty clearly. The wire is long enough that it can be relatively well concealed by running it from the visor towards the driver door, down to the dash, and across to the TomTom.
