TomTom Model(s)
go950
Hi,
yesterday i noticed that when connecting my tomtom go to my pc the internal memory was not recognised.
the internal was recognised. the unit, anyway worked perfectly.

this happened on windows 10; i noticed that on windows 7, both the internal and external units were recognised.

so, i tried to format the internal memory.
i used fat 32 with 4096 dimension (is this correct???? for a go 950).

after that i found the disaster.
if i try to install (from tomtom home) the navcore on the external unit, everything is ok (and i can also use the maps from the internal unit).

but, if i want to make the unit starting with the navcore on the INTERNAL (or without an external sd), the unit does not start.

i see an icon requesting for an external sd.

So, what can i do?

before the formatting of the internal unit it worled perfectly (apart from not being recognised by windows 10).

what steps can i do to restore everything?

You would need the application on internal for it to boot from it. Use Window's File Manager to copy all loose files on the sd card (loose files are all those NOT in a folder) to the internal of device. Then remove the sd card and see if it boots properly. (You did say the maps are on internal, right?)

you are a great genius. after hours of struggling.... it works. i put on the internal memory the files coming from the backup i had.
using the tomtom home has been completely useless. nothing worked. now i have everything back!

by the way, where can i find nice splash bmp for the 950?

When you connect to Home, I think you can download graphics from there. Click on Add traffic, Voices, etc. Then, Images and icons.

It used to be that the splash screen picture had to be 480 x 272 x 24 pixels and had to be saved as "splashw.bmp". X
Now it can be any size and can even be a jpg. (It will shrink, not crop, the picture to fit the height or width restriction.) My current GO 930 has a 800 x 892 x 24 jpg.

You should have a folder called "photos".
Tap the screen, then right arrow, then Music and Media, then Photo gallery.

Use your PC to put the photo of your choice in there.
Change Preferences
Start-up preferences
Done
? Do you want to change the start-up image ?
Yes
Tap the picture you want and it will be the next splash screen.
