 I have a Go 730 that I would like to pair with my Motorola w755 buy cant do it, yet I have a 3 year old Motorola v325 that will pair through bluetooth, Since bluetooth technology is all the same why would one phone pair and another not? Ive seen Tomtoms list of phone and my Motorola V325 isnt listed yet it pairs. Need a way to manually pair the phones. Have this question in at Tomtom support. Seems to me all the data functions of the Tomtom go is useless if you dont have the right phone. Anyone have a fix for this.
Thanks

There are a bunch of bluetooth profiles, the phone has to support the profiles that your GPS uses.

Here's a good post I found on another site -> http://www.yournav.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11895&st=20&start=20

Looks like your phone supports the headset, handsfree, and dial-up networking profiles. I'm not sure what else is needed to make it work with the 730.

Yes the V325 works great with the Go730 but I'm trying to get the Moto W755 to pair. The W755 regognizes the Go 730 but the Go 730 dosnt recognize the Moto W755.

You might try selecting some similar Motorola phones in the TomTom phone setup menu. It only takes a few minutes for each try, and you have nothing to loose.

I got mine to pair a while back with a Nokia that was not on the list that way.

The Tomtom go 730 doesnt give me the option to chose another phone, it just says make sure my phone has bluetooth enabled then the go 730 starts a scan to find the phone. always comes up unable to connect phone not compatible.

Sorry, I misread your post. From what I can see from Moto's website, the w755 should work. I think it supports the same profiles that my AT&T Tilt supports and mine works (although not officially per TomTom).

"This device supports Bluetooth Headset, Handsfree, Dial Up Networking, Stereo, Phone Access, Basic Printing, Object Push, File Transfer profiles."

It may be obvious but have you set the W755 to be allowed to be detected by other bluetooth sources.
My Samsung SCH-u510 is not supported according to the list but paired automatically with the 930 (should be same blutooth features as 730) as soon as I allowed it to be detected. No problems importing the phonebook either.

This is Tomtoms answere to my (our) problems.
" Thank you for taking the time to contact TomTom Support regards to bluetooth connections. It is our goal to provide you with an exceptional customer experience. We are always happy to help.

At this time, unfortunately, we do need to inform you that your cell phone is not 100% compatible with our units. We strive to make our products compatible with as many devices and platforms as possible. However, connectivity protocols are dictated by the technology markets and service provider's firmware, not by TomTom. Because of this, we are at the mercy of the fact that there is not a standard set of connectivity protocols that covers all platforms and devices. We do understand your frustration, and we apologize for any inconvenience, that this has caused.

There are lots of phones that are not on our list, but what happens is that if all features are not working 100% of the time, then we need to deem the phone not compatible. Most likely this is what is going on with your phone. It may be possible to use other phones; however, TomTom cannot guarantee or support compatibility with any unlisted phones. This list is updated regularly as new phones are tested. Down below, we have included a direct link to our phone compatibility list:"

I forgot - that comes up after it pairs handsfree and you are trying to set up data services.

Try what Arno suggested - I also had that problem with a phone initially.

You said earlier that your v325 connects.
While not connected to HOME :
Mobile phone > Manage phones > Find other phone ... you'll get the message

View attachment 2147

With your 2nd phone set your Bluetooth Option to Discoverable Mode on, then proceed with YES above.

If your phone is permitted to be discovered and you 730 doesn't find it the only option left to you is contact your cell phone provider's support desk.
