Tomtom has released app 11.030 for all MyTomtom-based PND devices on February 7.

They just updated to with 11.031 on Febuary 16, (which appears to be just a slight tweak to the info-sharing disclaimer).

This is a major update, adding a large number of features. As always, we recommend making a BACKUP (see here) of you favorites/POI/etc prior to performing the upgrade.

If I were you, mvl, I would have made it clearer that what you've written above is a quote from TomTom about the update.

Personally I would NOT want to give the impression that I thought the 5-line search screen, the redesigned keyboard layout and the Alternative route viewer were "improvements"

I edited the post...

Why was a screen added when i want to plan a route. Now i have to hit the back button to get to the regular menu to select a favorite or recent destination.

What screen are you talking about? (eg what is on the screen?)

I am not seeing a new screen when I plan a route.

MicroSD card with VIA1530

This could be exciting!

When I insert a microSD card in my VIA1530 the specs page that shows when you continue to hold the power button down recognizes the card's capacity. Also, the next boot of TomTom asks if I want to format the card. I said No since it's the card that I use in my phone.

Maybe someone else can pick up from here and see what happens.

I assume this is a result of updating to NAV 11.03.

Yes, SD support is enabled in app 11.030. Maps will install to the internal memory first, then the SD if the internal is out of space.

Due to Tomtom's patent dispute settlement with Microsoft, Tomtom needs to use an entirely different non-FAT32 filesystem on the SD card.

So it needs to freshly format a card (erasing everything that's on it) to use it. So you'd need to have a dedicated Tomtom SD card as you couldn't keep non-Tomtom files on it.

My Via 1505 turned on once with the car ignition after the update and hasn't done it since. I did a soft reset and it turns on with car ignition once and then never again. Anybody else having this issue?

its checked, when I went out to my car to look and see it did turn on with the ignition. I switched it off and tried a few minutes later and it didn't turn on, frustrating.

I've noticed two instances when it doesn't auto-poweron:

1) If the battery is low
2) If it's been under 30 seconds since it previously turned off

Also, have you tried unplugging and re-plugging in the carcharger, to see if that turns it on? Some cars leave the accessory socket power on with the ignition off, which would prevent this feature from working.

I was guilty of both instances, appears to be turning on fine now. A welcome addition as this was one feature I missed. Thanks

GO 2535 After update when I chose favorites a icon screen comes up and I tried to assign address to the icons, to no avail. I was able to remove the icon screen and now it goes to old style favorite's. If I want to use the icon screen if I could find instructions how would I get it back?

It's well hidden!

It's in settings / Start up. If you select "Ask for a destination" it than asks you if you have "regular favourites" or something like that.

You then get the chance to create a list of "Favourite Destinations".

My auto power on problem persists. It will work fine for a day and then just fail to power up suddenly. I am wondering if sitting in a cold car has something to do with it as when it fails to start it's generally in the morning.

How do you go back to the old list of destinations?
I could not remove the extra *empty* icons (that I find unusable)

You mean get rid of "Favourite destinations" completely?

Just go to start up preferences and switch to "Continue where I left off" or "Show the main menu".

That should work, but doesn't in the new app (think it's a bug).

You need to tap configure on the icon screen, say "yes" to the frequent destination question, and un-highlight all favorites except Home.

Then exit to driving view and the favorite menu will disappear.
